Anahita moored in the marina of Itaparica. Life is more pleasant here than in hectic Salvador. Max and Mila found friends on other yachts and in the village. Itaparica is also the meeting place of most foreign yachts in the bay - plenty of French and Swiss (sic), a few Swedes, Germans, Norvegians, Argentinians, Uruguayans and South Africans.

Our stay fell on the world soccer championship. When Brazil played, the whole village watched the game on big screens in public places and firework went off after each goal. Unfortunately, the party came to an early end in the quarter finals. Concerns for our French neighbours in the marina were unfounded, though.

Anahita at anchor in Maragojipe - a little town at the Paraguaçu river. Moskitos love the mangroves in the background. In order to fight the dangerous Denge-Virus, the government makes a big effort to keep the area as kleen as possible.

The Dannemann cigar factory in São Felix. Well, not quite. In the real place, the ladies do not dress as nicely as they do here for the tourists.

There are more beautiful places than Aratu. On the other hand, the bay offers perfect protection against all winds and the yacht club had a nice swimming pool for our kids.
